Ziyan Miller

Future of Business,
Youth Advocate

Ziyan is a curious and amiable person with a passion for culture and business. He is an avid dancer and has performed with renowned companies such as San Francisco Ballet and Presidio Dance Theatre in front of audiences of over 3,000 people.

Once, when he was going through the catalog of dancers at San Francisco Ballet, he realized just how multinational San Francisco Ballet was–with dancers from Brazil, France, China, and even Australia. This realization catapulted his thinking of how dance can unite people from all around the world and later led him down the rabbit hole of ways that the world is interconnected.

At his high school, Ziyan is the leader of the Dance Appreciation Club which sends out newsletters every month detailing opportunities to view dance, a food section editor of the school newspaper, a Peer Partner, Peer Tutor in Mandarin, history, and math, and an editor of the school yearbook. He also partakes in tennis, but ballet is his main focus. Ziyan has performed with two world renowned companies such as San Francisco Ballet and Presidio Dance Theatre, and has traveled internationally with the latter to perform. He was selected by his school to attend the Student Diversity Leadership Conference in 2023 with five other students. Ziyan also works with the 1990 Institute, an organization dedicated to championing for the fair and equitable treatment of Asian Americans and to improving mutual understanding of US-China relations. With the 1990 Institute, Ziyan has created lesson guides and worked on videos that focused on topics such as the Gaokao exam in China and Asian American immigration to the US and exclusion. He also regularly curates profiles that highlight Asian Americans in the US on Instagram @NewAsianAmericanVoices and has created over 70 profiles.

In the future, Ziyan wants to become an accomplished businessperson in order to offer opportunities to the future generations and leave a lasting impact.
