Youth Advocate

Sofia, a determined student eager to solve problems and explore the world. Driven by her passion for making her community and environment better, Sofia is on a mission to create a brighter future for everyone. She’s not only great at solving tricky math problems but also loves reading classic literature.

Sofia’s cultural background has profoundly influenced her worldview. Growing up in the UK and visiting the Philippines exposed her to diverse lifestyles. Witnessing the poverty in the Philippines deeply moved her, sparking a desire to make a difference. From a young age, Sofia grasped the importance of community support and the transformative impact of seemingly small acts. Inspired by her family’s commitment to donating to the less fortunate and enhancing children’s education, she witnessed firsthand the significant changes that such actions could bring.

In academics, Sofia ranks in the top 5% nationally, excelling in GCSE grades. Her pursuit of further mathematics, a field embraced by only 2% of students nationwide, and the UKMT Silver Awards for the past two years showcase her dedication to intellectual challenges. Outside the classroom, Sofia actively co-runs the Chemistry Society, co-founded a cultural magazine, leads the Environmental Society, and has been a dedicated member of the selective school choir for four years. Additionally, she finds fulfillment in tutoring refugees and has achieved Bronze and Silver Duke of Edinburgh awards. On a personal level, Sofia contributes to her school community by building eco-friendly birdhouses with friends.

Sofia aspires to attend a top university and pursue a well-rounded education, bridging her passions for both STEM and literature. With the knowledge she acquires, she envisions making a meaningful impact on her community, aiming to contribute to positive change in both the Philippines and the UK.
