Leo Nagasaki, a talented athlete and artist, stood out in middle school for his artistic achievements and as the best defener on his soccer team. He’s a diligent student with a strong connection to the environment, particularly interested in tackling sea pollution. Leo works hard to bring about positive change in the areas he holds most dear.Â
Growing up with four siblings, I felt like an only child due to my close bond with my parents. However, as I started elementary school, my life grew busier with extracurricular activities like swimming, English, math, and gymnastics, alongside time spent with friends. My elementary school years saw me in a rebellious phase, believing I had all the answers.
Leo's transition from middle school to high school brought a profound change in both academics and attitude. The realization that personal choices shape one's future drove a remarkable transformation. In freshman year, Leo's academic dedication yielded predominantly A grades, with just one B+ in a challenging English class. Middle school showcased artistic talent with awards. High school is yet to unveil this talent fully. Leo stood alone among freshmen honored by the language department. In soccer, making JV1 as a freshman and adopting a stopper role revealed leadership on the field. Entrepreneurial ventures brought pocket money, while around 100 hours were dedicated to serving the homeless. With a well-organized mind, Leo cares for over 20 species of pets, reflecting a strong sense of responsibility. This journey showcases a determined commitment to growth and success.
One day, I noticed my mom losing hair, thinking it was just stress until I found a hidden paper with the word "cancer." Her frequent hospital visits made me realize her vital role in my life – organizing my things, cooking, scheduling, and even contacting my school when I missed it. A friend's mom packed my lunch during this time. These formative years laid the groundwork for my personal growth and a deeper understanding of family, relationships, and the world.
In the future, Leo aims to excel academically, advance his soccer skills, and make a positive impact in his community, combining his diverse interests for a fulfilling and impactful future.
