Kaoru is passionate about Space Engineering, particularly Space Craft Engines. He revived the Robotics club in Grade 10 and joined the Student Council in Grade 11.
His interest in space began at the age of three while watching an anime about space on TV. Initially, he found space fascinating because it looked cool, but over time, his interest shifted to rockets. The sight of a massive object burning fuel and soaring into the sky captivated him, leading him to focus on rocket engines, the core of rocket propulsion systems.
He spent six years studying in elementary school in Japan, followed by two years in a Japanese junior high school before attending an American school in Taiwan starting in 8th grade. Struggling with English and the local Taiwanese Mandarin, he faced challenges in making friends and adjusting to the new environment. Discovering that his school was not accredited in Taiwan, he decided to transfer to another school where he had a more comfortable experience, participating in a science fair, founding one club, and reviving another. However, due to his father's job relocation, he returned to Japan in 11th grade, distancing himself from English and the American curriculum once again.
Dreaming of sending people to Mars, he believes that improved rocket engines can significantly expand humanity’s reach, making us a multi-planetary, multi-stellar species. In short, he aspires to build engines that will help achieve this goal.
