Anastasia is an exceptionally driven and determined individual who is entering her final year of high school. She possesses a deep passion for tackling pressing social issues, particularly in the realm of gender equality and women’s rights. Anastasia aims to empower women who choose to pursue careers in economics and business. Currently residing in Tokyo, Japan, she is an active student at the renowned International School of the Sacred Heart.Â
Anastasia grew up in a girls' school, surrounded by impressive female role models like famous scientist Marie Curie and her second-grade teacher, Ms. Cameron. Her mom is also a significant role model who taught her how to be strong when things unexpectedly change at home. Anastasia learned to bravely face challenges, like speaking in front of professors at Wharton about unfamiliar topics or working with different people at school. Her desire to empower women and address social inequality started when she joined the ballet community at just 3 years old. Over time, she heard many stories of women being treated unfairly in ballet, inspiring her to research social inequality, starting close to home in South Korea.
Anastasia actively participated in her school's student council, taking on roles like junior secretary-treasurer and upcoming Boosters secretary-treasurer. Her dedication to doing well in school led her to receive the esteemed Certificate of Academic Excellence from freshman to junior year, all thanks to her A grades in various subjects. Notably, she achieved an impressive 5 on her AP Microeconomics exam in 2023. Beyond her studies, she started the DECA Club, aiming to encourage young girls to explore entrepreneurship. In her free time, Anastasia dances with the International Dance School Junior Company and conducts research on the gender wage gap in South Korea.
Anastasia has a plan to study economics at a well-known university in the United States (often called a T20 university) so she can learn more about the subject. She also wants to understand how economics and sustainability are connected. After finishing university, her goal is to help make thoughtful plans that consider everything and look ahead for a fairer future for everyone.
