Dorn, a driven student from Thailand, is passionate about politics and education, and deeply committed to helping others. Apart from his studies, he enjoys video games, animated shows, and learning about Thai politics.
Growing up in a bustling city, Dorn didn't think much about how different life could be for others. However, volunteering at a rural Thai school was a real eye-opener. It showed him the huge gap between urban and rural education. At first, he was upset, but soon realized that just being frustrated wouldn't change anything. This sparked his determination to make a difference, and now he's all about improving educational opportunities for kids in underserved areas.
He's also really concerned about the challenges faced by LGBTQ+ students, who often deal with discrimination and a lack of support at school. Here are some hard-hitting facts:
Alarming Statistic:39% of LGBTQ+ youth seriously considered attempting suicide.
Double the Trouble: LGBTQ+ youth are at least twice as likely as their heterosexual peers to be bullied or harassed in school.
The Quiet Crisis:LGBTQ+ youth seriously contemplate suicide at almost three times the rate of heterosexual youth.
His strategy involves leveraging extracurricular activities to cultivate support networks for LGBTQ+ students, developing an online platform for sharing their stories, and collaborating with schools to incorporate LGBTQ+ rights and history into the curriculum. He is also keen on establishing mentorship programs and inclusivity workshops for businesses and families.
Phase 1: Awareness Amplification (Present - 2024)
Focus on launching a global digital campaign to educate and advocate for more inclusive education policies.
Phase 2: Empowerment through Education (2025 - 2026)
Set up support networks and safe spaces on university campuses to help LGBTQ+ students understand themselves better and support each other.
Phase 3: Professional Inclusion Initiative (2027+)
Kick off campaigns to encourage diversity in the workplace and engage parents in creating a supportive environment at home and in the community.
Each phase of Dorn's roadmap is designed to empower LGBTQ+ youth through robust support networks and inclusive education, thereby enhancing their well-being. By championing inclusive policies in educational and professional settings, he seeks to create safer environments for everyone. This initiative also aims to build community solidarity, encourage collective support for LGBTQ+ individuals, and promote unity and understanding throughout society.
Linking these efforts directly with the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), Dorn's project aligns with several key objectives:
SDG 4, Quality Education: By ensuring that education is inclusive and equitable, Dorn's initiative helps create learning environments where all students, especially LGBTQ+ youth, feel valued and supported. This involves integrating LGBTQ+ inclusive curricula into mainstream education, which can significantly enhance the educational experience and outcomes for these students.
SDG 5, Gender Equality: The project supports gender equality by challenging stereotypes and advocating for the rights and empowerment of all individuals, regardless of gender identity. This is crucial for the LGBTQ+ community as it promotes equality and protects individuals from discrimination and bias.
SDG 10, Reduced Inequalities: Dorn's efforts to promote inclusion and equal opportunities are also aimed at reducing inequalities within the community. By ensuring that LGBTQ+ individuals have the same opportunities as others to achieve their potential, the project contributes to a more just and equitable society.
Under the banner of HarmonyBloom, Dorn’s unwavering commitment to these goals highlights his dedication to not just addressing immediate challenges but fostering long-term societal change. By focusing on education, policy reform, and community solidarity, he lays the foundation for a future where everyone, irrespective of sexual orientation or gender identity, can thrive in an accepting and supportive environment.
